Fancy appetizers are great, but pigs in a blanket are always the first thing that runs out at a party, right? Insanely easy to prepare with only two main ingredients, these tiny sausages wrapped in warm, buttery bread are impossible to resist. So why fight it? This recipe ups the ante with a sprinkling of everything bagel seasoning on top and three different dipping sauces.

3. 7-layer dip

This Seven Layer Dip is made with beans, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, tomatoes, olives, and scallions. Nothing fancy and no cooking required, but together the whole combination tastes amazing when scooped up with a sturdy tortilla chip.

Main Dishes

1. Best Hamburger Patty Recipe

Make burgers your way and have them come out flawless every time with what I consider to be the Best Hamburger Patty Recipe, in my humble opinion. It’s a classic all-American recipe for mouthwatering burgers that can be cooked on the grill, on the stovetop, as thick 1/3 pound patties, or as ultra-thin griddle patties.

2. Oven-Baked Hot Dogs

These delicious Oven Roasted Hot Dogs are the perfect weeknight dinner or games day snack. I like to serve the hot dogs in buns, then set out a variety of toppings, that way everyone can help themselves and load the hot dogs the way they want.

3. The Best BBQ Chicken

BBQ chicken, whether cooked on the grill or baked in the oven, is one of those dinners nobody at the table will complain about. Unless it’s dry and overcooked. But that is NOT this recipe. It’s a basic anyone can easily master, so that they too can claim their BBQ chicken is the best on the block.

4. Best Steak Marinade

The other great thing about this recipe is that people of all ages will love it! It’s flavorful enough to impress the adults but simple enough to keep kids happy too. This will give you yet another reason to look forward to summer every year! A rich and tender marinated, grilled steak served with all those delicious summer sides.

5. Smoked Brisket Recipe

This is the best beef brisket recipe. It is covered in a Texas-style dry rub, doused in a classic sweet BBQ sauce, and smoked on a Traeger Grill or an electric smoker. This beef comes out flavorful and moist with that distinctive and impressive smoke ring that is definitely worth the wait! Leftovers are great as a topping for tacos, or corned beef sandwiches

For Side dishes:

1 . Macaroni Salad

it’s such a classic American dish that contains elbow macaroni pasta mixed with veggies, and all coated in a creamy dressing. I love the creamy mayonnaise dressing that coats all the noodles, and mixed in with lots of crisp and crunchy fresh veggies. Its such a great combination of flavors and textures.

2. Easy Potato Salad

This old-fashioned recipe for Easy Potato Salad has probably been passed down by our grandmas for generations. It’s a summer classic destined for backyard barbecues, family celebrations, and picnics.

A white s erving bowl with potato salad.

3. Coleslaw Recipe

This coleslaw recipe is one of those back pocket recipes, especially during the summer with all the cookouts. It’s the perfect last minute side and goes perfectly with grilled meats and hot or cold sandwiches. It’s just one of those recipes you’ll use over and over, plus it’s super versatile and you can customize it how you like. Keep reading below for some delicious ideas!

4. Grilled Corn on the Cob

Do you want to grill corn with the husk on? Peel back the husk leaving it intact on the end, remove the silk, seasoned with salt if desired, and then pull the husk back over the corn. Leaving the husk on allows the corn to steam a bit, which will result in a more tender kernel. Grill with the same instructions below in the recipe card (minus brushing with oil.)

5. Baked beans

these bourbon beans and they hooked me. Seriously, hooked me! They turned me into a baked bean lover and now I’m convinced that no outdoor cookout, barbecue or summer meal is complete without a side of baked beans.

1 Flag Cake

Celebrate Independence Day with this eye catching Flag Cake. Whipped cream and fresh berries make this stars-and-stripes dessert a crowd pleaser. Let this cake be the sweet finish for your Fourth of July meal!

2. Blueberry pie

This recipe is hands down my favorite homemade blueberry pie made from scratch! Juicy blueberries are combined with sugar and spices then baked until bubbly in a flaky, buttery pie crust. There’s no need to worry about a soggy crust because this blueberry filling sets up perfectly every time. It’s thick and delicious, never runny!

3. Ice cream sundaes

This is the perfect Dessert Recipe to enjoy during the Summer. It’s easy, there’s no need to turn on the oven, and the Vanilla Ice Cream and wonderful toppings are sure to be a hit with everyone. It’s a great way to cool down and enjoy a classic treat from your childhood.

4. Patriotic crispy rice treats

We love Rice Krispie Treats. We make a lot of them and we’ve blogged about quite a few of those. But these 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats are our current favorite holiday version of this yummy classic. Red White and Blue and in the shape of an American Flag … we know they are going to be a big hit at our 4th of July party. Easier to make than you might think, we have all the directions you’ll need to make this fun patriotic treat that your family and party guests will rave about for years to come. We love them!!! Happy Birthday, America!

5. Berry trifle

Dessert will never be the same when you serve this stunning Patriotic Berry Trifle. It’s perfect for holidays like July 4th, or any day in between. Fresh strawberries and blueberries are layered together with pudding and cake for a dessert like no other!

6. Red, white, and blue cupcakes

When it comes to holidays – my favorites are the patriotic ones. It could be that I love red, white and blue together. It could also be that all those holidays fall during the summer months when the weather here couldn’t be more glorious and I can finally shed the extra layers. I’m not sure – but what I do know is that these white chocolate cupcakes topped with a swirl of red, white, and blue buttercream frosting make my heart go pitter-patter
