Strawberry baked apples

  • 4 cooking apples
  • 50ml/2fl oz reduced-sugar strawberry jam
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • reduced-fat crème fraîche, to serve (optional)


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas mark 4.
  • Remove the cores from the apples, and cut a line around the centre of
    the fruit to prevent the skin bursting. Put in an ovenproof dish.
  • Fill the centres of the apples with jam, and sprinkle with the sugar. Add
    about 2.5cm/1in of water to the dish.
  • Bake in the oven for 1 hour until the apples are tender but still holding
    their shape. Serve hot with the crème fraîche, if you like
